It was so wonderful to see so many of our fabulous first grade families at the Fall Festival last Friday. Thank you to our amazing PTA for such a fantastic event. We look forward to an exciting week ahead with Halloween. Students are encouraged to dress up on Halloween, just make sure no masks, weapons/replica weapons, no high heels, or excessive makeup or gore. We can’t wait to have fun together on Thursday!
We are off to a great start this week. It was so fun to see so many of our first graders in red for the start of Red Ribbon Week. Students will be listening to and discussing the story, Stellaluna, by Janell Cannon. If you have not read any of Janell Cannon’s book, she is a word master and paints beautiful and vivid pictures for the reader. We look forward to a great week together. Don’t forget the fall festival this Friday!
Don’t forget: No School on Monday, October 14th! Thank you so all the families that have generously joined and donated to our PTA. First graders are working hard to make respectful choices at the lunch tables each day, chatting politely with friends, and picking up their trash. The class that does the best job of this each week will be awarded the “Golden Spatula!” Mrs. Mabe’s class won last week! Congratulations!
It was such a pleasure to meet with so many of our wonderful First Grade Families this past week to set goals for each of our students. Thank you for your constant support.
We will continue with content rotations this week. Don’t forget to bring your smile for Picture Day this Thursday, October 10th. See the flyer that went home for ordering details.
Take a moment to brainstorm with your child this week about his/her oral presentation during the week of Oct. 21st. What do they want to share with the class. Please see the flyer that went home last week for all the important details!
Happy Fall! It’s hard to believe that we are already in the month of October. We look forward to meeting with you for conferences this week. Don’t forget, early dismissal (1:17) all week, with no school on Tuesday, October 1st due to conferences.
We hope your child(ren) came home excited to have met the other first grade teachers for science, social studies, art, and technology this past week. We continue to rotate for RtI and are incredible thankful for ALL of the wonderful volunteers that have begun to lend their time each day. We could not do it without you.

We will be continuing RtI rotations this week and enjoy, Chrysanthemum, by Kevin Henkes. What fun it would be to read other books by Kevin Henkes as well. Students will also begin content rotations, starting science, social studies, art and technology all this week! It is sure to be a busy, busy week.
Look for information on math facts to be coming home this week. Practicing math facts nightly is SO important. Our website (under the homework tab) has everything you need to practice math facts with your child.
