Hi! My name is Alana Kucheck, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher! This is my 9th year teaching 1st grade, and I cannot wait for our time together in Room 9!
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, but moved an hour south on the 405 freeway to Orange County for college at UC, Irvine (Go Anteaters!). At UCI, I was a musical theater major and an education minor. It was in these years where I saw how my two passions- teaching and the arts- work hand in hand. After graduation, I pursued my passion for teaching and obtained my teaching credential and Masters in Teaching at UCI before moving to NYC to try my hand at acting in the Big Apple! Missing being in the classroom, I moved back after a year and officially started my teaching career in Beverly Hills Unified teaching 1st grade in the very same classroom where I was a 1st grader!
My husband and I live in Irvine, and he is a product of the IUSD schools. He still finds it funny when we run into his old University High School baseball coach around town. In my free time, I love to read, go hiking in new places, see my friends, run, and travel all over the world! I am learning how to cook, but am not the best…yet 🙂
There is truly no greater joy than facilitating within a child a lifelong love of reading and learning. My classroom promotes independence and problem-solving in order to foster students who are inquisitive risk-takers with a passion for learning. Every child is unique, and I constantly strive to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of each student in a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment. More than anything, I want my students to fall in love with school! First grade is filled with fun, and I look forward to making this a memorable year working together!
